Holy Cow..the time Flies
I thought that it would be pretty easy to keep up a photography blog. I mean, all the hard work is in taking and editing the pictures. Talking about what I've already done seems really easy. Except it has now been over a year since my last blog post and I think that I need to re-evaluate how easy it really us.
Over the last year I have taken many pictures, completed many photoshoots, and overall I've been happy with the outcome. I'm still learning, that's for sure. I am continually finding better ways to do things and writing them down in a notebook I have just for lessons learned from photography. I try and learn one new thing that I could improve on each session.
One of my favorite things about this part time photography gig is the people that I have met. I have met the most incredible people and most of them I had never even met before I went to take their pictures. And now we are lifelong friends and I will probably end up taking pictures for them for the rest of their lives.
That's what this business is all about. Making friends, and relationships, creating lasting memories. and creating a moment that these families will never forget. This is why I believe in affordable photography. I want people to have the opportunity to have pictures taken often. Kids are changing and growing up every day and you want to capture as many of their phases as you can. Now don't get me wrong, cell phone pictures are great, but there is something to be said for professional pictures, and ones that won't cost you an arm and a leg either.
So this past year I have learned a few things about myself and my business. The more photoshoots I do the more confident I am in myself and when this happens my images turn out phenomenal. I am creative and when I let creativity guide my actions I create some really cute vignettes and mini sessions. Wedding photography is not my thing and that's okay. There are so many wedding photographers out there who love that aspect of photography. I'd much rather stick to little kids, families, school dances, and seniors.
So here's a few things that I've been up to this past year. I'll probably create a few retrospective posts about a few of the shoots but here's an overview. Seniors from high school and college, spring, and summer mini sessions, school dances, newborns, families, and this is just the beginning!
